Base Shore Point is 100-100cm and made using oils and coffee heated onto a steel plate.
As part of what I wanted to achieve and where I wanted to be as a painter both physically and spiritually is connected to the sea on so many levels. Painting landscapes that are connected to the coastal areas across the south east is my domain and creating the perfect visual of both colours and textures was something I wanted to work on closely with this collection of artwork.
Kelleys Point 80-80cm Oils and Coffee on Steel
Challenging the norm of how we interpret landscape painting and coastal painting both in the terms of colour and feeling has always been the challenge. I have always wanted to find that one bit of stand out colour that doesn’t dominate the immediate area and then let it dominate through the work I produce.
Dayona View 50-50cm Oils and Coffee on Steel
Combining colours so they work in tandem with the organic materials such as coffee that are used as well as then getting these elements to burn to create the right hue was a big part of the artistic process behind this collection. The heat from the fire dulls down the colours enough to give the paintings that washed out look you associate with the coast”
If you have been to see the show, It would be great to hear some feedback from you on what your thoughts of the work were. You can email me direct on sam@samuelpeacock.com
