New Artwork at George Thornton Art in Nottingham

Am really pleased to announce that some of the largest commercial work I have produced to date is now on sale at George Thornton Art in Nottingham. Having worked with George for many years now, I believe its important to create work for the gallery that tests the boundaries of what we have already achieved together and consistently make work that will leave an considered impact on the viewer.

The painting is one of 3 I have created in the period of lockdown. I origin ally began creating all 3 in February, but the creation was then disrupted by obtaining the correct amounts and colours of paints needed to continue, so like most things, it went on pause until things returned to a sense of normality. As with most issues, the supply chain and ease of obtaining items needed for creating art was disrupted for most small businesses. Getting the work complete and up to the gallery gives me great sense of personal achievement

The main theme behind the work is created focuses on some early sketches of the area surrounding Pett Levels, a theme I have looked at previously in my work. The dream was to create a triptych of pieces derived directly from my experiences and walks in that area. The colours in the lower part of the painting represent a mix of those found in the rock areas on the beach and in the cliff face walls, slightly off colour from the ochres and light brown tones associated with the sandstone face.

You can now see the work in all its glory at George Thornton Art in Nottingham, 12a Flying Horse Walk, Nottingham NG1 2HN. contact George on george@georgethorntonart.com for a viewing.
