12 Dec JM Gallery Takeover Weds 10th-Tuesday 16th December with Hannah Ivory Baker, Portobello Road, LDN
Curation day at JM Gallery on Portobello Road with both Hannah Ivory Baker and myself, showcasing our new work in time for Artfair season in 2026.This is the second time that both Hannah and myself have shown at JM Gallery. After an epic first visit at the start of the year, it was time to return and curate our own blend of art on steel and contemporary oil painting to a wider audience once again.

Hannah’s work and mine combine well showcasing a range of ways to manipulate both industrial and fine art oils. We both use the South and West coasts as inspiration and have known each other as friends for the last 15 years. The steel artwork combines well with the more traditionally abstracted landscape feel of Hannah’s work and is set for the more contemporary living space.

For the show, we have both chosen a range of works that we are planning to take to the upcoming 2026 artfairs alongside some of the larger works that is specifically reserved for the fairs. As we are both on Portobello Road for this show, it was important to pre curate and to understand our potential client base as well, the market serves a massive tourist industry as well as a plethora of local bohemian art lovers and large traditional households.

We had pre curated the show and moved into the space on the Tuesday before opening. Now, with a new space that you are planning to exhibit in, it is important to work out the specifics such as lighting and hanging, this is just as important as not overhanging the space, a mistake which is easily made, you can kill a space by hanging a bad show. We have took the time to try and bring this to you in pristine condition.

Both of us had visions of the new work we wanted to bring, this is Coal 1, a new piece which I have had framed. There are 4 of these in existence, all following a similar vein as in colour and texture, I had planned these as sketchbook ideas when planning Coal which came out in September, these are the idea sheets which I have hand ground and reworked then had exceptionally framed by the same framer which Hannah uses.

The colours are representative of what I wanted part of the coal collection to be, I also wanted that rough angle ground edge just to sit next to the sheer whiteness of the frame, industry meeting sleek interior beauty. Both Hannah and myself work extensively with the Interior Design community and I have had this in mind when working the art.

If you are a regular JM visitor, I hope you like what we have done with the place, If you have seen something at the show that you have fell in love with you can email me on sam@samuelpeacock.com or find me @sampeacockart and DM me
