09 Jul Landlines at the ‘Royal Geographical Society’
Really happy to be part of a very exciting show featuring, amongst others, artists Samantha Gare, Luke Walmer and Catalina Christensen taking place this September at the Royal Geographical Society. I have only recently become part of The Wilderness Collective, who are the brains of this fantastic charity, which focuses on highlighting contemporary issues which effect our planet.
I am happy to be making a small, exclusive collection for this show. I will be creating work which focuses on the unseen amounts of discarded metals which blight the surfaces of the local landscape.
To generate influences for the artwork I have been metal detecting with my Garrett ACE 250 metal detector and removing ferrous and non-ferrous metals along with precious metals such as silver and copper to look at the impact corrosion has had on them. The colours which I have found have greatly influenced the work which I have created for this show.
