25 Sep Annular OPENING NIGHT AND STUDIO VISIT HOSTED BY STUART HOLDSWORTH Tuesday 29th September 6-7pm live on instagram
I am really happy to launch my new series of paintings titled “Annular” on Tuesday 29th September with a live studio visit by Stuart Holdsworth of amazing London blog “Inspiring City” Watch the studio visit live from the comfort of your phone on Instagram. you can find me at @sampeacockart or at @inspiring city
The reason the title is called annular is that I found my first annular brooch whilst out detecting the fields in Sussex. Annular meaning “Formed as a Ring” Although the paintings take on their own solid circular form. The Annular Ring was designed on the format of Solar and Lunar eclipses.
I had been in discussion for a while with my studio manager about moving away from the square format. Although this was a difficult decision to do even though many of my contemporaries have took this decision in the past with their own practice I had felt that the square steel shape gave space to complete all I wanted from each piece if work. However, once I found the groove whilst painting, I worked out that the space became more infinite whilst painting on circular steel.
Paintings are based on spaces where I have been searching for discoveries within the landscape, The paintings are named from a collection of words and place names whilst trawling the back lanes across North Devon over the weekend whilst watching lunar activity over the summer.
