14 Feb Kellie Miller Gallery Joint Show with Hannah Baker. February 2020
I am glad to announce a new partnership with the Kellie Miller Gallery based on The Lanes in Brighton. To celebrate this, I am opening a joint show with the exceptionally talented artist Hannah Ivory Baker on Friday February 21st which between us hosts 35 new paintings completed in the late autumn of 2019 and concerning themselves with the area surrounding the South Downs and the coastal pathways which envelopes this beautiful area of wild countryside, taking in colours, contours and the various textures which we as artists feel need representing in this show.
I am showing with Hannah for the 5th time now, our second joint solo show in a gallery other than Highgate Contemporary. Hannah and myself seem to enjoy a good working partnership together where we both understand the processes involved in others work and actively seek to exploit this in the various shows, talks and joint painting demonstrations we regularly take part in.
Working with Kellie and her team has ben a remarkable step forward for both of us as we have been actively seeking representation along the coast for the past year and have spoken with a couple of galleries about making this happen. We feel that with Kellie Miller Gallery, we have found the correct gallery who believe in the work that we both produce and share the ideas we both feel paramount to creating artwork we all love.

The paintings are as always, based on steel, this time the paintings feature a fine mix of chalk powder which I have ground down to make the material accessible to the work. The chalk was found at exposed areas surrounding the South Downs on the traditional routes towards Brighton and from around a disused quarry near The Long Man site. As with all the work I produce, I always look at ways of adding parts of the physical landscape I to my paintings.
