This is a finished piece of the work we wanted to create. Here is a segment of the painting which we have used to run a selection of lights through. We used a SLR camera on a 10 second delay. Happy with the end results however.

Photo of work in pre production stages, lots of acrylics being spred onto a 5m/3m cloth gaffa taped onto the wall. Doing a joint project with another artist from a similar vein was always going o be a challenge, and I believe it shown me up for being the stubborn bastard that I am. It took us overall 8hrs solid to complete. Will have prints for sale soon. Am joint exhibiting final pieces in Essen in Feb 2012.

 

           

       

 

 

 

             

Topolski Century Gallery

July 29th-31st.

Exhibition involving several artists in the back room of the Topolski Century Gallery on Southbank. A good chance to show 4 pieces from the remescrape series to a wide audience. A chance to meet Froso Papadimitiriou and Scott Bradbury properly and discuss further exhibitis, aswell as with other artists.

It is a great shame that the gallery is coming to an end and is being turned in to another coffee shop. The work in there is stunning and needs to be on a permanent display. There is also a door which was taken from Newgate Prison which sits amongst the exhibits.

New work is being worked on in steel and perspex at present. Will upload photos of the work in progress to the website as soon as.

A collaboration of industrial paints and acrylics rolled across the canvases and recycled steel frames to create a distorted visual landscape.

 

 Rickshawhouse Exhibition

Taken from the Rickshawhousegallery exhibition "four corners of the world" on March 17th in Southwark SE1. Nice to see lots of peope at the gallery on the night. The works are the most recent of all work produced recently. Not the best of photos however, It looks a lot better in the flesh. Materials are a mix of oils on steel sheets measuring 60cm/100cm except the 2nd and 4th panel which are on plastic.

ArTour-o in the dining room

Just back from exhibiting in Florence Italy. Work was hung in the Villa La Vadetta alongside an entire range of artworks from artists from all around europe. The piece which was hung for the exhibition was made to show an artists relationship with food. So I created a virtual lasagne layered piece comprising brown sugar and olive oil alongside hammerite radiator paint and industrial oils. Then burned to a crisp with a blow torch.

I also had a picture published in a book for the event called "Art Must" Firenze VII anno ediizione 2011. Also look at firenzecontemporanea.com for further information.

I need to mention a few really important artists at the event also, first Alessandro Grassi from Italy and secondly Fabien Freese from Dusseldorf who I am collaborting with on a joint piece in the summer(August). The work will be exhibited in London and then onto Germany later in the year. My piece is furthest left in the photo, Fabien's is furthest right. We were both exhibiting in the bar, which needed drinking dry.

 

When the work is coming in, you just have to take it. So many great projects to work towards. And to top it all, i get to exhibit in Italy this year. That's been a goal for a while. Manged to get in talk at Stratford Upon Avon Art College on  Jan 31st. That went well, had a powerpoint to hand with some hints and tips on it. Looking forward to the Fringe Festival in May. Planning cool stuf for that.

At present the biggest challenge to producing work is keeping the source of ideas fresh and visually stimulating to the viewer. Sourcing materials to work with is the next biggest challenge followed by working outside with a blowtorch without fumigating all the houses in the local area. The work is for an exhibition at the Rickshawhouse Gallery in Southwark. The Remescrape series will be shown at all exhibitions over the year. This is the first finished piece for the show. The will be another 3 pieces for the show at the Rickshawhouse.

New Exhibition date. March 2011 @ the Rickshaw Gallery, Southwark, 199 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8AA. The intention is to display Four new pieces. As the exhibition is a joint exhibit, i don't have the full details of all the other artists on the night, the only artist i know of is Louise Moore who is  fellow painter. Contact me for further details on the exhibition.

Exhibiting with Ernest Simmons, Enam Gbawonyo and Kelphin Thompson at the Adam St Gallery, 1st December(opening night on Wednesday December 1st) Am going to be showing the new Remescrape series. Remescrape is basically a series of landscaped images using industrial paint, spraypaint and recycled metals. Influences range from photography either found or taken of parts of the unseen landscape, the little corners and edges of buildings, walls, pavements, metallic objects which have been damaged and distorted by human intervention either purposefully or accidentally. The series follows on from the "Colourscrape" series. Using a mix of paints either found, donated or bought and mixed together in recycled containers and applied with decorator rollers, then burned until the surface bubbles and distorts. Know a good scrap metal man in Merton who supplies me with all i need, even smashes metal up for me.

Am safely back from Australia with a load of good ideas to channel into the work. I gained alot of inspiration from different colours and textures in the rock faces which occur naturally.The biggest piece of news i have to share, is that i am booked in to the Kerri Lowe Gallery in Sydney for a joint exhibition in July 2012. The gallery is a ceramic based gallery which hosts painters and sculptors. Lots of new works will be exhibited at the events, all the work will be for sale on the day. I am going to use several new photos and one off prints. Hopefully i will have a series fom Australia ready to go also. Possibly  black and white charcoal series returning to my original landscape roots, I intend to try and incorporate some Aboriginal culture into the colour works which i will do over there. I have looked at several Aboriginal art galleries over there and have lined up a day with some artists over there, hopefully with the intention of exhibiting next year in Sydney.  Also in September i will do some more live painting stuff and risk getting physically assulted in the community, either that or some more "aren't you ashamed" comments

Stratford Fringe Festival

 

Painting live is something iv'e never done before. Suprising really. The exhibition had ran all week in the Civic Hll and had several visitors come and have a look around, i had my sister help me hang it which was lovely as i don't get to see too much of her. The work was the bulk of the "colourscrape" series, lots which is not on this website as it hasn't been photographed yet......So on the Friday me and Ambs travelled up on the rattler from Marylebone to Stratford nice and late with tons of stuff, we definately need a car. Stayed in a guesthouse and got picked up by Marion the organiser in the morning ready to get painting in the Town Square. Realised later that we should move down to the main square as that where all the action was happening, lots of interest straight away and loads of questions. My favourite being the one about wether i was ashamed of myself for painting in an abstract fashion, when finding out the man who was asking worked for the council and picked up dog shit for a living. I guess art critics come in all shapes and sizes. I did however sell a painting at the show and got to show all my Black and white sketches off. The best hing that came out all of this is that me and the collective will be organising all the visual art aspects for the show next year. So will be looking for artists who can't afford the big money lots of venues are after, and to get involved next year, especially those from the local area. On a final note, i need to mention how dedicated Janey and Garrick are alongside Marion in organising all of this and letting me into their lives.
